The John Blue Story

I found John in a wheelchair in front of his home behind on his mortgage facing foreclosure. He had one leg amputated and was confined to a wheelchair. He would climb in and out of his home through the front window because the clutter was hard to navigate. Most of John’s pension income went to the care facility where his wife lives.

He would eat food delivered from McDonalds from Door Dash. He told me Adult Protective Services would help him to remove the clutter from floor to ceiling.

John’s home was in foreclosure and we were able to postpone it for many months. Adult Protective Services took 6 weeks to get the clutter removed from his house, however, they did not remove it all. I found mixed in with his stuff was human feces, his refrigerator and stove were not working. The kitchen and bathroom plumbing were unusable. After the city took ½ of his stuff away John caught COVID. He went to a facility to recoup. When he came back, he said hospice was in charge of his care. I met with the hospice representative and worked with them. They did not have a facility for John. I convinced John to leave. I paid his weekly bill to have him relocated to an Extended Stay Hotel. I brought him supplies every few days. Hospice care came to the hotel. I had a moving company pack his stuff and put it in storage. We hired junk removal people to fill 5 dumpsters from inside and outside the home including removing the jungle of uncut trees and weeds growing for years. We had a cleaning lady come in to sanitize and clean the house.

In the meantime, I paid the upfront cost to relocate him to a hospice facility close to his wife in Sonoma.

I put the home up for sale and generated about 15 offers and negotiated over $100,000 more than list price. I worked closely with a great attorney who helped work out the details for John and his wife to have enough money to cover their health care for John’s short time on earth and for his wife.

What Our Clients Want You to Know

Mark and Theresa

We are happy to share our experience with Daniel and his staff. We were behind on our mortgage about 9 months when we met Dan. We were going through divorce and finances were tough trying to keep up with the mortgage.  One of our children has special needs, making it hard for Theresa to work a full time job. We needed time to resolve our divorce issues and delay the looming foreclosure. Dan and his team gave us the money we needed to get some work done to the house as well as kept the mortgage lender engaged while we struggled to find a place for Theresa to live. We appreciate how Dan and his staff were so patient with us.

Larry and Gail

I can’t thank Dan enough. He knocked on the door where my ex-wife lived for more than 18 months. Gail told him I did not want to sell and I didn’t. I was in foreclosure and I really did not care because the stress was just too much after losing my other home. When the foreclosure was getting close I realized Gail had no place to go. Dan said he would buy the home, pay for the relocation of Gail and help pack her stuff. Neither Gail nor I were in any condition physically to move. I am an injured fireman in my 70’s and Gail is also up there in years.

Dan made me an offer that I accepted and Dan got the transaction closed quickly. The home needed so much work because the roots from the giant trees around the property pushed up under the home and around the outside on the all the cement that was around the home including the garage.

I was able to pay off the loan, buy a mobile home for Gail, that Dan helped me with and now I have enough money to make a new start for myself.

James and Terry

Dan and his staff were great. He helped us work through the foreclosure issues giving us an extra 8-months to stay in our home. He helped us with $40,000 worth of renovations. He gave us enough money to get the work done as well as oversaw the contractors to get the renovations complete. This process was very tedious to us, and Dan’s team helped us work with the difficulties of renovating a home for resale. This increased our home value by $100,000. We flipped our own home and made an extra $60,000. We are so happy that we did not lose our home and have all the extra money we wouldn’t have had without The Respectable Offer Network.
